[c=#2dba69]The Erdos Fragments - Part 4
The Remanence[/c]

[c=#a8c8e8]It is not me you should listen to. It is not my voice that matters.
What I carried was never the message. Only the trace.[/c]

I went as far as I could with this bone flute. Further, perhaps, than many who carved, prayed, and built entire tombs.
And yet, I never managed to play the sequence to the end without trembling.

You, who have consumed all these fragments, now carry enough of this scattered memory to finish what I could not.

Here is what I finally retained, note after note, grave after grave:

Hold your flute. Stand near a decorative tombstone - any one, as long as it still bears a trace of someone. Play this sequence slowly. Listen to the intervals, respect the pauses.

If your breath does not waver, something within you clears - as if every moment lived since now counted for a little more than before. This is not a gift given to you. It is a remanence: what remains, and continues to act, long after the note has faded.

I will never know if you succeeded. But if an echo returns to you, it will not be me.
It will be the world remembering itself, through you.
